Ground Source Heat Pumps
Ground source heat pumps use a series of pipes called ground loops which are buried in the earth to extract heat from the ground. This heat can then be used to warm a home’s radiator network or underfloor heating system and provide hot water. The amount of ground loop required depends on the size of your property and the heat load it requires and if space is an issue vertical boreholes can be drilled to achieve the same effective end result.
This system can be used throughout the year as the temperature under the ground stays at a constant temperature, even in the winter. Ground source heat pumps provide a constant moderate temperature output which is ideal for a newer, well insulated properties.
A Greener Alternative install NIBE ground source heat pumps in the South East of England. NIBE is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers in sustainable energy solutions supplying products for heating, ventilation, cooling and heat recovery.
NIBE produces 14 different types of ground source heat pumps, ranging from 5 kW to 60 kW that can cater for the smallest residential property to light commercial buildings. By using a cascade connection it is possible to achieve an output of 540 kW.
